Category of Intervention III: Awareness-Raising
Category of Intervention IV: Scientific and Technical Studies
Category of Intervention V: Coordination and Cooperation Mechanisms

Service and Trainings to the Target Groups

In this Category of Intervention, it is aimed to increase the capacity of various target groups such as, university students in related departments, branch teachers in mining technologies departments in vocational and technical high schools, engineers, occupational safety experts, Directorate General of Occupational Health and Safety (DGOHS) and Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs). The activities carried out under the scope of this category are as follows.
Health surveillance services will be provided to 10,000 mine workers in order to analyze the current health status of mine workers and analyze current practices and requirements regarding health surveillance provided by employers. Health surveillance will include chest x-ray, biochemistry, hearing, pulmonary function and complete blood count tests. To the employees; Chest radiography and evaluation, dual reader ILO Pneumoconiosis Digital Chest Radiograph Evaluation, Pulmonary Function Test and Chest Diseases Specialist Evaluation, Hearing test and ENT Specialist Evaluation, blood AST, ALT, GGT, Creatinine, Blood urea nitrogen (BUN), HbA1c measurement and Toxicology tests are planned.

Institutional Capacity Building

In this category, it is aimed to increase the capacity of various target groups, including but not limited to university students in related departments, branch teachers in mining technologies departments in vocational and technical high schools, engineers, occupational safety experts, Directorate General of Occupational Health and Safety and Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs). The activities carried out under the scope of this category are as follows.

Mining engineering and related earth sciences and application departments and mining technologies vocational school students will be given training on risk assessment methodologies designed with a proactive approach and practical applications. It is aimed to reach a total of 1800 students in 18 provinces with the planned one-day trainings.

Trainings will be given to increase awareness and technical knowledge of branch teachers in Vocational and Technical High Schools in terms of occupational health and safety. With these trainings, it is aimed to reach a total of 135 branch teachers.TRAININGS FOR ENGINEERS AND OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY EXPERTS

One-day theoretical and applied technical training will be given to engineers and occupational safety experts. Prior to the trainings, especially the training subjects to be determined as a result of the Training Needs Analysis to be carried out with the target group, especially technological underground mining applications, good OHS practices in mining, crisis management for emergency preparedness, risk assessment methods and management system approach, health and safety for mining workplaces. document will be discussed. With these trainings, it is aimed to reach a total of 1800 engineers and occupational safety experts in 30 provinces.

Trainings will be given to introduce the components of the project and to inform the project parties and stakeholders on the OHS management system for mining workplaces and the strategies to be followed in order to introduce an OHS management system in the workplaces to be selected within the scope of the Financial Support and Guidance Program. With these trainings, it is aimed to convey the details of the project and its components to a total of 100 participants.

With these trainings, it is aimed that a total of 100 Directorate General of Occupational Health and Safety personnel will be entitled to the "Trainer Trainer" certificate at the end of the five-day training program.

Awareness Raising

Within the scope of this Intervention Category, various activities that will raise awareness regarding OHS will be carried out.
In this field of activity, studies are carried out to raise awareness and to design, produce, print and distribute promotional materials, and to prepare promotional videos and animations.

As part of this activity, the project's social media platforms and website were prepared. The main purpose of the website is to receive applications within the scope of the Financial Support and Guidance component, to follow the announcements, to check the documentation of the workplaces receiving financial support under the Financial Support and Guidance component, to participate in training activities and events, and to share the relevant outputs of the project. The social networking platforms of the project are Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn and YouTube.

Technical guides will be prepared and distributed on five main topics, taking into account the framework conditions of ISO 31000 and ISO 31010 regarding mining. Guidelines to be published in English and Turkish, ventilation in mines, spontaneous combustion, safe behavior, coal dust explosions, mine gases, safe fortification, methane drainage, etc. issues are planned.

In order to share the results of the project, a Success Booklet about the Project will be prepared and published. The Project's Success Book will be prepared in 300 copies, 200 in Turkish and 100 in English, and will be published electronically at the end of the project.

A Closing Meeting will be held after the completion of the Project activities to share the results of the Project. During the Project Closing Meeting, the results and achievements of the Project will be shared with the relevant parties. It will also serve as a platform where all relevant stakeholders can receive their opinions and feedback on the Project implementation.

Scientific and Technical Studies

Within the scope of this Intervention, it is aimed to build the coordination capacity for making decisions regarding the field of OHS with the relevant stakeholders. In this context, it is aimed to organize 3 workshops among stakeholders, on the subjects listed below in order to increase coordination and co-operation.

It is aimed to prepare a field report by carrying out studies on the current situation of unionization in mining workplaces, the reasons for reluctance to join unions and the importance of being a union member in terms of OHS.

In order to evaluate the current OHS curriculum in mining engineering departments, it is aimed to create a report by interviewing the relevant academic staff.

It is aimed to create a report in order to measure the effectiveness of the financial supports given, to determine the method of future financial supports and to measure the extent to which the financial supports contribute to the workplaces.
