Project Objectives: The overall objective of the project is to improve occupational health and safety conditions and to implement consistent and comprehensive strategies in the Elazığ region.
The specific objective of the project is to disseminate Online Interactive OHS Implementations as the first pilot implementation in Turkey and make them available for the members of Elazığ Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The system to be developed for the mining sector at the first stage and the OHS risk assessments carried out physically in the current situation will save time and money for enterprises with this new system. With the online interactive OHS risk assessment system, it is aimed to achieve the following:
- Improving the quality of activities carried out in the field of occupational health and safety and standardisation of these activities.
- Updating the OHS legislation in line with technological developments and workplace conditions.
- Carrying out model and pilot studies for the implementation of the OHS Law in the public and private sectors and determining the problems encountered in practice as well as their solutions.
- Establishing and disseminating sector-specific OHS management systems.
The online interactive OHS risk assessment system will provide a risk management system for the mining sector, with qualified data collection, standardisation of operations, increasing use of new technologies, identifying and understanding of OHS implementation challenges.
Target groups: Mining and quarrying companies (79); Mining company owners do not have sufficient information and management tools in accordance with the OHS legislation in Turkey. Institutional and technical capacity will be raised with trainings and awareness workshops to be delivered to the enterprise owners, managers and employees within the scope of activities to be carried out within the project, and measures to be taken on OHS in businesses. The level of compliance will be increased with good practices and legal regulations.
Employees of mining and quarrying companies (930): Mining employees in the project target group have basic knowledge on the issues of OHS. However, their awareness on their legal rights and responsibilities is low. With the project, it will be ensured that the implementation of OHS requirements in mining enterprises becomes widespread and the working environment and conditions are improved.
Activities / Outputs:
- A center will be established at the Elazığ Chamber of Commerce and Industry Building to provide non-profit online interactive risk assessment services to the members of the mining sector.
- An institutional work plan will be prepared for the center for sustainability.
- An online interactive risk assessment software will be developed and used for mining sector actors.
- It is aimed to gain the EU-OSHA authorised status or the status of OHS Risk Assessment Center member.
- A common synergy will be created with the project partners and members on the implementation on awareness of OHS legislation and related laws.
- A technical study visit will be made to Afyonkarahisar marble companies.
