Project Objectives:
- Raising the awareness of a total of 300 sector stakeholders with 20 trainings in order to improve occupational health and safety conditions in medical and hazardous waste,
- Developing a sectoral communication and cooperation environment for the implementation of consistent and comprehensive strategies by categorising/classifying wastes in the field of medical and hazardous waste collection and disposal
- Raising awareness about OHS risks arising from medical and hazardous wastes (measuring the level of awareness of employees of waste collection facilities and health employees regarding the waste collection process and distributing brochures that are prepared on the findings of the studies carried out to the relevant personnel) and thus disseminating the use of OHS-related precautions and implementation procedures
- For the adoption of an OHS-oriented approach in workplaces by all personnel and sector stakeholders; increasing the awareness level of waste collection facility managers and employees by providing training on hospital-borne waste,
- Determining the standards that will constitute a common ground in order to eliminate the lacking and/or insufficient awareness and information regarding the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in the field of medical waste sector and disseminating them through trainings, conferences and visual tools among the stakeholders,
Activities / Outputs :
- Organisation of trainings: Within the framework of the project, 20 trainings on the use of PPE and the collection of hospital-borne waste will be provided in Ankara. These trainings will be provided to current and/or potential employees as of the 6th month of the project. During the trainings, Turkish and EU flags will be displayed prominently and separately from all other equipment.
Photographs and/or images of the activities will be taken and shared on the website of the association (www.geksander.org). If possible, it will also be featured in the press.
- Organisation of a conference: A search conference will be held in Ankara within the framework of the project. A moderator will moderate the conference, and discussions will be had on how to improve the OHS rules. The participants will be waste industry representatives and sector stakeholders.
- Conducting awareness measurement surveys and distributing reports: Within the scope of the project, the awareness level will be measured and reported by conducting a survey to 1000 health employees and 300 waste facility employees. The outputs of the activity will be conveyed in the search conference and the trainings that are to be held. 50 copies of the aforementioned publication will be published in accordance with the visibility rules and will be distributed to the stakeholders.
