The Ministry of Labor and Social Security has made the third grant support payment to 80 underground mining enterprises that are beneficiaries of the Improving of Occupational Health and Safety in Mining (MISGEP) Financial Support and Guidance Program.
For this support, which is given in return for the occupational health and safety services received by the underground mining enterprises, it is required that an occupational health and safety professional be appointed to carry out these services in the workplaces and that the payments for this service are made by the employer. Workplaces receiving support can appoint an OHS professional among their employees, as well as receive this service from the Joint Health and Safety Units.
In this program, which is jointly financed by the European Union and the Republic of Turkey, a total of 3.4 million Turkish Liras grant support, of which 732 thousand TL in July, 850 thousand TL in August, 898 thousand TL in September and 920 thousand TL in October provided to underground mining workplaces that meet these conditions.
Within the scope of the 1st field visits of the program, 71 mining workplaces in 26 provinces were visited, covering a distance of approximately 31,000 thousand km.
In addition to the financial support, the technical guidance works given to strengthen the implementation of the OHS Regulation in Mining Workplaces also gained momentum. In this context, the first field visits of beneficiary workplaces were completed and the current situation and needs in the field of occupational health and safety were revealed. This program, which includes both financial support and guidance, will continue for 24 months.
