We Held the Second Meeting of MISGEP -Intervention 2.3 Engineer and Occupational Safety Expert Trainings- Training Needs Analysis (TNA) Questionnaire Introduction Meetings with Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) and Associations

Studies continue specific to the “Improving Occupational Health and Safety Especially in Mining Sector Project (MISGEP)” carried out by the Directorate General of Occupational Health and Safety (DGOHS) and financed by the European Union and the Republic of Turkey. Within the scope of the project whose overall objective is to improve occupational health and safety (OHS) in the mining sector; it is aimed to contribute to the mining sector by increasing the competence of technical staff such as supervisors, occupational safety experts, engineers, and occupational physicians in the field.

“Intervention 2.3. Engineer and Occupational Safety Expert Trainings”, which is planned for this objective and includes delivering one (1) day training for a total of 1800 engineers and occupational safety experts who work/will be working in the mining sector in 30 provinces, was discussed in the meeting held on 02.06.2021 with the participation of organisations such as the Turkish Mining Development Foundation (YMGV), the Occupational Health and Safety Training and Research Association (ISGARD), the Association of Occupational Safety Specialists (ISGDER), the Association of Occupational Health and Safety Experts in Public Service (KISGUD), the Association of Occupational Safety Experts in Public Service (KIGUDER), the Association of Occupational Health and Safety Service and Training Institutions (ISGHEDER), the Association of Joint Health and Safety Units Operators (OSGBDER), the Aegean Occupational Health and Safety Federation (EGEISFED).

The Deputy Director General Mr. Furkan YILDIZ made the opening speeches of the meeting, and he mentioned that the MISGEP project should proceed together with the stakeholders in this field in accordance with the multidisciplinary structure of OHS. Later, MISGEP Technical Assistance Component Team Leader Mr. Gökhan GÜLER made the Intervention Evaluation Presentation to give more detailed information.

After a general introduction about the Project, Mr. Gökhan GÜLER elaborated on the steps of Intervention 2.3. In order to determine the topics of the training to be given to engineers and occupational safety experts and the technical guidelines needed by the sector, the Training Needs Analysis steps prepared in the intervention and the “Training Needs Analysis Online Questionnaire” prepared in this context were introduced with visuals.
