Ministry of Labour and Social Security has completed the third grant payment to the 80 underground mining workplaces, who are the beneficiaries of the Financial Support and Guidance Program of Improving Occupational Health and Safety Especially in Mining Sector (MISGEP).
For the grant to be given to underground mining workplaces in return for providing occupational health and safety services, it is a pre-requisite for the employer to assign occupational health and safety professionals who can conduct these services, and to make the payments regarding the services. Workplaces which receive this support can assign Occupational Health and Safety Professionals from within their own bodies, or they can also get this service from Joint Occupational Health and Safety Units.
In the programme financed by the EU and the Republic of Turkey, a grant support of approximately 2.5 million TRY divided into 732 thousand TRY in July, 850 thousand TRY in August and 898 thousand TRY in September has been provided to underground mining workplaces which fulfilled the pre-requisite conditions. In addition to the financial support being fast-tracked, technical guidance provided in order to strengthen the Occupational Health and Safety Regulations have also gained momentum. In this context, first field visits to the beneficiary workplaces have been completed and their current situation and needs regarding the occupational health and safety subject has been determined. The program which covers both financial support and guidance will continue for 24 months.
